Audrea stood against the large, rain drizzled window, a plush throw rested on her shoulders, and followed a single, slow falling raindrop with her index finger. The warmth of her finger against the glass created a broad, fog-esque, brush stroke. A host of shrubs and pioneer trees coat the descending landscape, damp leaves dance to a somber tune as the light rain gets splayed. The faint sounds of wind, wet vegetation colliding, and rainfall cooed in her ears. The sky is bombarded with dark-grey clouds. They move at their own pace despite the wind’s hurrying.

“I can’t believe you have a rainforest for a backyard.” Audrea said turning her head.

Leon walked over to the cream-colored conversation pit and sat Indian style, water from his twists dropping on the fabric.

“Aruba doesn’t have any rainforest according to some,” he grabbed a tablet, “this view is just as nice.”

With a few taps on the screen, two metal plates along the high ceiling separated, revealing an amazing skylight. Audrea, bright eyed, watched as the two panels locked in place. Diminished sunlight mixed with clouds shined down on the sunken couch, and increased the rooms vibrancy, if only by a bit. Audrea stepped away from the window and studied Leon’s face, her arousal spiking all over again.

“I’ll give it to you,” she started, the smooth wooden floor under her feet, “your home is immaculate.”

Leon offered her his hand as she approached the pit, which she took with a smile. He tugged her close as she sat so that their faces nearly touched:

“House,” he said with deliberate focus on her eyes, “it’s just a house at this point.”

She examined the ripples of his hazel irises, knowing exactly what he meant, and was unprepared to have that conversation.

“You’re an amazing architect.” She leaned in and kissed him. Finding the kiss as electric as the first time. She nubbed down on his lower lip as he pulled her body closer by the hem of the blanket.

“Thank you,” he said as they came up for air, opening their eyes at the same time, “would you believe me if I told you this house doesn’t have a single nail, except for those used to hang up my artwork.”

She fully opened her lids, a tinge of fear rested in her eyes as she waited for him to continue.

Leon chuckled and smiled.

“It was built using an ancient method called Mortise and Tenon, the support beams are made to interlock with special joints. Some of the world’s oldest buildings were constructed using this method, you’re safe.” His laugh was honest and secure.

Audrea studied his face, the reason for his bringing it up unknown.

“You don’t worry about the foundation? I’m no architect but you built this house on a slope, as much rain as this region gets you don’t think the topsoil will erode at some point?” she asked no longer in love with the house.

Leon flashed his whites, symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing, like the house. “We’re about to get a heap more rain too.”

Andrea shoved him in the chest, but barely managed to move him an inch. He reached out and cupped her chin:

“There’s bedrock fifty meters below this foundation, this house will be here long after I’m gone. Believe me, I wouldn’t had gone through the trouble of installing a geothermal cooling system and an advance rainwater catchment and filtration system if I didn’t do my homework.”

She thought back on the shower she just took, how pure the water felt as it serenaded her skin, how refreshing the glass of water tasted—crisp, and weightless on the tongue. They stared. The intensity raised from her thighs to her chest. She nodded her stamp of approval, and turned, slid back, and rested the back of her head in his lap. He placed his right arm on her chest and rubbed her face.

She stared up at the large skylight—canopy leaves and raindrops tapped against the glass, creating the only audio in the home apart from his fridge. Leon ran his fingers along her soft skin and through her curly, flowing hair.

“You know you’re safe with me, right?” he asked looking down at her.

She met his eyes, “Of course, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.” No trace of doubt in her eyes.

A smile formed on the corners of his lips and spread to his cheeks. Andrea wanted him to sink his teeth into her, to leave his mark all over her body.

“It’s crazy knowing we never would’ve crossed paths if my flight wasn’t delayed.”

Andrea tilted her head and raised her brow:

“Who’s to say we never would’ve crossed paths?” she inquired.

He looked up at the ceiling. “Maybe we would’ve met another way… But who’s to say the timing would’ve been right that next time? You were just coming from Rochester after your residency interview, I don’t see you in that terminal, and a year later you’d be engaged to a doctor.”

Audrea laughed, “I’ve been single almost two years, so I don’t see myself getting engaged that quick.”

“And I still find that hard to believe.” He was looking at her again.

She shrugged her shoulders and rolled her head along his pants. “My ex fucked it up for a lot of men.” She waved her moisturized arm in the air.

“I have to thank your ex then.” He smirked, she smiled. “Ok, so maybe you’re not engaged, but you’d definitely have a man by then, and he’d be ready to die to lock you down.”

“Maybe, maybe not,” she teased, rubbing the groomed undergrowth of his beard.

“But you know what else is crazy?” he said looking directly in her eyes.

“What Leon?”

“Even if you had a boyfriend, or finance, I would’ve still asked you out. Because when I first saw you, I heard a small voice whispering, that you could be the one.”

Audrea slowly sat upright and faced him, a thick tension in the air as the rain began to beat against the windows.

“Well, I’m glad we met before I started my residency,” she paused, “you would’ve had to wrestle with that voice for a whole five-hour flight, I’m faithful.”

Leon lowered his head close to hers. “That voice, would’ve had me taking a hammer to every beam in this house.”

His stare was all-consuming so that she could neither move nor look away. Juices were escaping down her walls again.

She allowed her tongue to dangle just on the outskirts of her mouth:

“Take your hammer to my walls.” She grabbed at his shirt and kissed him, smushing her lips into his.

She sat upright and turned as he kissed on her. He grabbed the edges of her jaw and licked her lips and cheeks, moving his tongue down to her neck. She pinched her lids shut and allowed the sensation of his touch to overtake her.

He inched the blanket off, revealing her bare, light-brown skin. He sucked on her clavicle like it was an oxtail as she ran her fingers through his damp hair. They sat on their knees with the heat rising. He took his shirt off, his muscles were firm and rigid. The rain pounded on the skylight and the living room windows. The wind howled in the creases of the sills as Leon picked her up by her thighs and sat her on his shoulders. She exhaled deeply as he licked her pussy lips. Her legs dangled on his back as he slurped up her juices. She swung her head back and closed her eyes, his licking and the torrential rain pleasing her ears.

He stood to his feet, balancing her as he did, then flipped her upside down, clutching her by her lower back and continued to wind his tongue. She instinctually pulled his joggers down and grabbed his dick, her blood slowly rushed to her head, his blood, to his dick. Her moans were muffled as she jerked her neck back and forth as he held her tight.

Average salary of Geriatrics in Aruba was the dominant thought in her mind.
